A previous scheme to develop the site was refused by Elmbridge Borough Council earlier this year, with officers writing that it would have been an “uncharacteristic, overly dominant and cramped development”.
This proposal would have seen a different mix among the six homes, with more of the planned houses having more than three bedrooms.
“The proposed development, by reason of the proposed housing unit mix, would fail to meet the identified housing need within the borough and would contribute to the oversupply of four or more bedroom properties,” officers wrote.
Another called it “a cramped form of development” that would be “clearly at odds” with the current setup on New Road.
