‌Thousands of UK travellers are still carrying a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) in their wallets, blissfully unaware that the card may no longer be valid. ‌Post-Brexit, the EHIC was replaced for UK residents by the Global Health Insurance Card - better known as the GHIC. She added in her caption: "It's one of those little holiday checks that's easy to forget, but it could make a big difference if you need medical treatment while you're away." For this reason, travel insurance remains absolutely essential. Travel experts are clear that the GHIC should sit alongside a solid travel and medical insurance policy — not replace it.
