The University of Alabama-Birmingham set its own football program back years by hiring former NFL quarterback and television analyst Trent Dilfer as head coach in 2023. Dilfer came to Division I college football with four seasons of coaching experience... all at Nashville's Lipscomb Academy, a private high school. Well, aside from being mostly worthless as a schedule and incredibly easy as a geocaching exercise, it's a pretty cocky statement. Dilfer's schedule is 11 weeks and a postseason against a lineup of opponents who don't even command the respect to be named.
