Mr Sandhu said: "In Merseyside, he was tortured and he was caused really serious harm. He was taken to Whiston Hospital but died on June 21, 2019, almost three months after the attack. The court heard Mr Samel is believed to have been naked and in a seated position when he was set alight. Mr Samel had operated from a unit in Aston, Birmingham, where HM Revenue and Customs seized cigarettes on February 22, 2019. During the trial, Mr Sandhu told jurors: "Tomasz Samel was not an angel but he did not deserve to be tortured and to be killed."
