Access from the north entrance of Carlisle Market Hall will be unavailable, but entry from Scotch Street and Fisher Street will remain open, allowing the Market Hall and nearby businesses to continue trading as usual. To keep the public informed, Cumberland Council is hosting a drop-in session on Friday, August 21, from 12pm to 5pm in Carlisle Market Hall’s communal area. The second phase will start in early January 2027, focusing on renovating the two large bus shelters on the north elevation of Carlisle Market Hall. He said: "Importantly, Carlisle Market Hall and the surrounding businesses will remain open and ready to welcome customers throughout the works. The bus hub upgrade is part of a broader scheme to revitalise Carlisle, with recent improvements completed on Devonshire Street, English Street, Carlisle Library, Greenmarket, and Market Square.
