The Bangladesh Society for Private University Academics (BSPUA) organised a virtual webinar on “Research Integrity and Article Retractions” on August 11. Around 200 faculty members and researchers participated in the webinar that discussed research ethics, article retractions, responsible publishing, and the roles of researchers, universities, regulators, journals, and publishers. The speakers said article retraction does not always indicate research misconduct. They called for a strong national framework on research integrity, effective university-level ethics committees, regular researcher training, clearer guidance on credible and predatory journals, and stronger peer-review systems. The speakers also stressed that research integrity is a shared responsibility involving researchers, universities, reviewers, editors, publishers, the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Education.
