Carlos Alcaraz’s US Open title defence has been thrown into fresh doubt after the Spaniard withdrew from the Cincinnati Open while continuing to recover from his wrist injury.
The 23-year-old also lifted the Qatar Open title, reached the Indian Wells semifinals and finished runner-up at the Monte Carlo Masters before his injury setback.
Alcaraz remains on the entry list for the final Grand Slam of the season, but his participation in New York is yet to receive the green light.
