NET Web DeskGuwahati, Aug 12 — Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has called upon his Arunachal Pradesh counterpart Pema Khandu to initiate a formal inquiry into the recent firing incident along the inter-state border that left several people injured. The incident occurred on Monday in Dhemaji district, where at least 12 residents of Assam sustained injuries after miscreants from Arunachal Pradesh allegedly opened fire during a dispute over land encroachment. I request the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister to order an inquiry, find the culprits, and punish them.” The Assam government has urged restraint and reconciliation, emphasizing that border disputes should be resolved through dialogue rather than violence. The appeal highlights the need for coordinated efforts between the two states to ensure long-term stability along the sensitive border region.
