Some of the strongest winds were reported in Chicago's south suburbs and parts of NW Indiana where widespread wind damage was reported with measured wind gusts close to 100 mph. This has already been determined to be a derecho which needs severe wind gusts of at least 240 miles. Severe wind gusts on Tuesday stretched as far as the Carolinas reaching at least 850 miles!
