Students of the Civil War know April 9, 1865.
The Civil War was for all intents over.
April 6, known as “Black Thursday” among Confederates, saw four separate engagements fought along or around Sailor’s Creek, Virginia.
Joshua Lindamood will reveal the answers in his September 8 presentation to the Roanoke Civil War Round Table entitled “The Battle of Sailor’s Creek.”
Reminder: Immediately preceding Mr. Lindamood’s talk, the Round Table will be honored by the national Civil War Round Table Congress, whose representative will present the group with the Congress’ prestigious Dr. John A. Bamberl Phoenix Award for 2026.
