He tells his dad, “Hey, I’m gonna tell them that you moved mountains, and you fought giants.” But music has always been such an anchor for me, and very specifically in genres that I love, like country music, traditional country music. And we didn’t have a car, but we’d go down to Lower Broad in Nashville, and that was heaven for me because I had loved country music. Then I learned my lesson, and then a couple of bars later I was like, “Oh, I’m 22.” I’m gonna go find a dive bar down on Broad Street, and that’s where I’m gonna begin my singing career.
