Hyderabad: It was a day of long walks, leafy treats and a feast fit for the biggest land animals on Earth as the Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad celebrated World Elephant Day on Wednesday. On World Elephant Day, the focus, however, was not merely on entertaining visitors but on highlighting the ecological importance of the species and the need for their conservation. “Nehru Zoological Park is proud to celebrate World Elephant Day. The celebration was attended by zoo officials, veterinary staff, forest personnel, animal keepers and other members of the zoo team, whose efforts went into preparing the special elephant feast and ensuring the animals’ safe movement through the zoo. For the four elephants, World Elephant Day ultimately came down to a simple combination of what they enjoy most: a long walk, plenty of greenery and a feast of their favourite fruits and vegetables.
