Air China’s domestically produced C919 large passenger aircraft completed its first regular international passenger flight on Wednesday, landing in Mongolia as the aircraft takes a significant step toward expanding beyond China’s domestic aviation market. Air China flight CA723 landed at 16:58 local time at New Chinggis Khan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar after operating the Beijing–Ulaanbaatar route. The flight marked the first regular international passenger service operated by the C919 since it entered commercial service. It was designed and manufactured in accordance with internationally accepted airworthiness standards and completed its first commercial flight on May 28, 2023. According to data from the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), as of August 10, C919 aircraft operated by Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines had opened 57 routes connecting 25 cities and safely carried more than 7.5 million passengers.
