Happy birthday to 1874 Wellesley High School graduate and Bates Elementary School namesake Katharine Lee Bates, widely known as the author of the patriotic song America the Beautiful. The 11-mile paved and level bike path stretches from Bates’ birthplace of Falmouth, to Woods Hole. As I got closer to busy Woods Hole, I saw more cyclists.
