Speaking at former DPM S. Jayakumar's book launch, Mr Lee highlighted their good performance in practice. Professor Jayakumar noted the Elected Presidency's role in safeguarding reserves, which proved crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic and remains vital for future challenges like climate change. He stressed its importance for government financial discipline. However, Jayakumar added the Elected Presidency needs refinement, with voters understanding candidates require significant financial and administrative capabilities to effectively question the government.
