Salzburg crime wave: 210 Mozarts go missing Newsnorman lebrecht August 12, 2026An installation by the German artist Ottmar Hörl in Salzburg’s Mirabell Gardens has been shut down after it was found that 210 of the original 230 miniatures of Mozart had been removed, the Mozarteum Foundation announced today. The remaining figures have been secured. A press release says: ‘The public exhibition is now over, and no further Mozart figures will be installed as replacements due to the manufacturer’s summer vacation.’ They added: ‘the illegal removal of figures had become rampant.’ Anybody seen a missing Mozart?
