As if a partial eclipse was not enough, tonight will also see a Perseid meteor shower, combined with a new moon - making it one of the best stargazing conditions in a decade.
Cornwall will be one of the best places in the UK to view the partial solar eclipse, which will be followed by the peak of the Perseid meteor shower tonight (August 12) and tomorrow (August 13), although it will remain active until August 24.
In Truro, the solar eclipse will begin at around 6.18pm, reach its maximum coverage at 7.16pm, and end at 8.10pm, with up to 96 per cent of the sun obscured at the peak.
