(ABC 6 News) – 14-year-old Patrick Schoonover was playing hockey alongside his teammates on the Eastview High School boys hockey team when he unexpectedly suffered a cardiac arrest, leading to his death. “Unless you’ve lost a child, you really don’t understand what a parent goes through, unless you’re one who has lost a child,” Schoonover said. The Play for Patrick Foundation has helped almost 7,000 people receive screenings, all in an effort to keep them heart healthy.
