A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Team, Awal Mohammed, has accused the government of weaponising the judiciary against the party, describing the continued prosecution of cases involving former NPP appointees as “selective justice”.
Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show on Wednesday, August 12, Mr Mohammed questioned the basis for allowing some criminal cases involving former NPP officials to continue during the legal vacation.
Mr Mohammed also argued that other serious criminal cases, including murder and rape, were before the courts and questioned why cases involving former NPP officials should be prioritised.
Mr Mohammed said the cases involving former NPP appointees were already being handled as specialised matters, with the accused persons appearing in court regularly.
“Now the state, together with the Chief Justice, is saying that these specialised cases against former NPP appointees must continue,” he said.
