UAE cardholders will soon be able to use Jaywan mono-badged cards in more than 183 countries and regions, after a new agreement between Al Etihad Payments and UnionPay International. Read More: UAE Banks Roll Out Jaywan Domestic Card Scheme NationwideThe Memorandum of Understanding was signed at UnionPay International’s headquarters in Shanghai by Saif Humaid Al Dhaheri, Chairman of Al Etihad Payments, and Dong Junfeng, Chairman of China UnionPay and UnionPay International. Under the agreement, Jaywan transactions made outside the UAE will be routed by UnionPay to the UAE National Switch, which is operated by Al Etihad Payments. This step is expected to give Jaywan, the UAE’s domestic payment card scheme, a wider international reach and improve cross-border payment efficiency. The new deal builds on the current partnership between Al Etihad Payments and UnionPay for co-badged Jaywan-UnionPay cards.
