The Prem Bhatia Journalism Awards and Lecture were instituted in 1995 by the Prem Bhatia Memorial Trust in memory of Prem Bhatia, a former editor of The Tribune. His work on the Great Nicobar project has drawn attention to the threats it poses to the island’s forests, biodiversity, and indigenous communities. It has also placed the project in the broader context of development and environmental governance in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
