The incident took place on a journey between Edinburgh and Rosyth and the culprit Paul Mason has now been sentenced.
Mason, 35, of Mellor Court, Rosyth, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for assaulting his partner.
There had later been an argument between them on the bus and Mason punched his partner twice to the face then spat on him.
Defence solicitor David Bell said: “It’s been a pretty damaging relationship for both of them” and added that his client had just completed a community payback order.
Sheriff Nigel Cooke imposed another community payback order with 67 hours of unpaid work and also a one-year non-harassment order.
