Multichoice says the new Supersport channels will increase the volume of live sports content available to subscribers, particularly during congested periods in the sporting calendar. Local content conditionsWhen Canal+ acquired MultiChoice last year, one of the conditions was local content production and support for small black-owned suppliers. Canal+ Africa CEO David Mignot has said it would be “a strategically huge mistake” for the group to cut local content investment, pointing to a commitment of about €100m to accelerate local production.
