The EU’s first Chips Act was sold with a simple ambition: strengthen Europe’s semiconductor industry and raise its share of the global chip value chain to 20% by 2030. The Commission proposes a Chips for Europe Initiative 2.0, continued support through the Chips JU, possible use of InvestEU and European Competitiveness Fund mechanisms, and EU co-financing for strategic semiconductor projects.
