The money for Sackville School, in Lewes Road, East Grinstead, was approved on Tuesday (August 4) by Councillor Sam Raby, West Sussex County Council’s cabinet member for children, young people and learning.
It will be made up of £815,000 in Section 106 developer contributions, £625,000 of Schools Basic Need funding and a £160,000 contribution from the school.
A statement submitted with the planning application said: “‘In addition to providing students with a first-class outdoor learning environment, Sackville School wants to be at the very heart of the community.
A report to Cllr Raby said it was proposed that the scheme would be a School Managed Project, with funds handed to the school as the work progressed.
If all goes as planned, it should be completed during the Spring term of 2027.
