The meetings were hosted by Ben Obese-Jecty and focused on issues facing local people, with the aim of ensuring councillors have a direct line to raise concerns at the parliamentary level. Mr Obese-Jecty said: "Making sure councillors have a conduit to me as the MP is important in order to make sure I’m across everything happening locally at all levels of local government." Mr Obese-Jecty said the conversation gave him "a granular view of the issues affecting councillors" and confirmed he has compiled a long list of actions to follow up on during the parliamentary summer recess. He thanked the councillors for their time and input, and said a further meeting will be arranged once the outcome of the LGR proposal is confirmed.
