Dog owners warned pets may become confused during eclipse

As the sky darkens unexpectedly, dogs may become confused or unsettled, mistaking the sudden change in light for an early sunset.
Darren Beale, CEO of fresh dog food brand Years, said: "Dogs will not understand that an eclipse is taking place.
Owners should also provide a quiet, familiar space and avoid taking anxious dogs to busy eclipse-viewing locations.
Eclipse glasses are not necessary for dogs, as they are unlikely to look directly at the sun.
He said: "Trying to put eclipse glasses on a dog could cause more stress than the eclipse itself."
