Police were called at 3:13pm on Tuesday following reports of the discovery of remains of a foetus close to the area beneath Hodder Bridge, Whalley Road, which leads on to Mitton Green in the Ribble Valley. Officers attended and are currently in the area with enquiries ongoing. Residents said they had seen a large police presence in the area at Lower Hodder Bridge through the evening and into this morning. A police spokesperson said: “We know this is concerning to hear about, and we want to reassure you that a full investigation is underway to determine how the remains came to be at the location they were found. “If you were in this area between Sunday 9th and Tuesday 11th August at 3pm and witnessed anything unusual, have any dashcam footage from travelling over that bridge, or feel you can help us in any way, please call 101 quoting log 864 of 11th August.”
