The petition urges the council to accelerate restoration efforts by relocating the remaining fish, introducing emergency aeration measures and publishing a clear timetable for dredging works.
Council leaders previously said the funding has been allocated entirely towards dredging the lake in a bid to improve water quality and restore the ecosystem.
A spokesperson said specialist contractors had now received the results of laboratory testing carried out on samples taken from the lake.
Castle Point Council, which took over responsibility for the lake from Canvey Town Council last month, said the relocation of fish is not possible during warmer weather due to welfare concerns.
Lifelong Canvey resident Lorraine said generations of islanders have enjoyed the lake and warned it must not be allowed to decline further.
