78 Telangana prisoners clear Class 10 exams via National Institute of Open Schooling

Hyderabad: As many as 78 prisoners across three correctional facilities in Telangana have successfully passed the Class 10 (SSC) examinations through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), official authorities announced on Wednesday.
In recognition of their academic accomplishment and commitment to self-improvement, Dr Soumya Mishra, IPS, Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, announced a special Director General’s Remission for all successful candidates.
Breakdown of Results: Out of 108 enrolled inmates who underwent a year of structured preparation, 78 cleared the board examinations—56 from Central Prison, Cherlapalli; 15 from Central Prison, Nizamabad; and 7 from the Special Prison for Women, Hyderabad.
Skill-Oriented Curriculum: The subjects selected focused on practical employment utility, including training as Data Entry Operators (DEO) to enhance post-release livelihood prospects.
Academic Support System: The Telangana Prisons Department provided government-allocated teachers alongside state-funded private educators to conduct regular classes, mock tests and pre-board examinations.
