Dominican Republic senators accumulated a total of 103 excused absences across 26 sessions convened during the legislative term spanning 27 February 2026 to 26 July 2026, according to a record review by Diario Libre.
The report observes that not a single absence during the entire period was recorded as unjustified.
A detailed review of the Senate session minutes reveals that Senator Félix Bautista led all lawmakers in missed sessions, submitting 11 formal excuses out of the 26 held.
He was followed by Senator Héctor Acosta with 10 excuses, and Senator Ginette Bournigal with eight.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, seven senators maintained perfect attendance records throughout all 26 sessions: Senate President Ricardo de los Santos, alongside Senators Dagoberto Rodríguez, Antonio Marte, Odalis Rodríguez, María Mercedes Ortiz, Andrés Guillermo Lama, and Daniel Rivera.Senate regulations and ethics oversightThe absence of any unexcused missing sessions stands in stark...
