Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT Ashwini Vaishnaw has recommended Rs 3.10 crore under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) for upgrading healthcare facilities in Nilagiri and Baleshwar, Odisha.
The recommendations include Rs 1.40 crore for the Sub‑Divisional Hospital (SDH), Nilagiri, and Rs 1.70 crore for the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Baleshwar.
According to the detailed annexures, the Nilagiri SDH will see upgrades to the IPD, Drug Warehouse, Patient Rest Room, Casualty Ward, Refreshment Hall, Surgery OT, SDMO Office, and OPD Block.
The Baleshwar DHH proposal covers improvements to the Medicine Block, Mother‑Child Complex, Anti‑Retroviral Therapy Centre, Casualty Ward, Surgery OT, Patient Rest Room, and OPD Refreshment Hall.
Once approved, the upgrades are expected to bring tangible improvements to public healthcare delivery in coastal Odisha, reflecting the Minister’s continued engagement with grassroots health infrastructure.
