Six opposition parties and movements have concluded 18 months of negotiations and agreed to contest the 2026 presidential election under a new coalition called CHANGE - Coalition for Hope, Accountability, National-renewal, Good-governance, and Equity. APeX said it facilitated the talks involving the All People’s Party - Sobeyaa, Gambia For All, National Unity Party, Tabax Rewmi Movement, and United Democratic Party. According to APeX, the stakeholders are now reviewing the final Draft Coalition Agreement, including the proposed flagbearer selection process. The flagbearer selection process will begin immediately after adoption and is scheduled to conclude by Sunday, 30 August 2026. The coalition is calling on other opposition political parties, movements, and aspiring candidates to join.
