Interestingly, a shift away from romance isn't the only major thing that comes from The X-Files' new R-rated release. As such, permitted that Carter's R-rated vision properly captures the scares he wanted to convey, it will be interesting to see if the 2008 X-Files film enjoys a critical reappraisal.
