Francesca Hong is locked in a close Democratic primary race for governor after the Aug. 11 election, with the outcome still unresolved as officials count delayed absentee ballots in Milwaukee County. Hong, a self-described democratic socialist, is seeking the Democratic nomination in the race to succeed Gov. She Identifies as a Democratic SocialistHong publicly declares herself a democratic socialist and has been endorsed by Madison Area Democratic Socialists of America and by Milwaukee DSA. She has also received backing from Wisconsin progressive organizations, including the Madison Area DSA and Milwaukee DSA. The remaining Milwaukee absentee ballots could determine whether Hong advances to the general election or Crowley becomes the Democratic nominee.
