A self-driving bus operated by Arriva begins service Wednesday on and near the Efteling amusement park in the Netherlands.
According to the company, the vehicle operates autonomously but carries a safety driver in the operator's seat who can take control if needed.
It is the second self-driving bus authorized for public roads in the country.
“Self-driving buses will sooner or later become a fixed part of the Brabant public transport system,” said Stijn Smeulders, the province of North Brabant’s deputy for mobility.
Since April, Tesla vehicles in the Netherlands have been permitted to use self-driving software, though a driver must remain attentive and ready to intervene.
