The Professional Footballers’ Association has begun legal proceedings against the English Football League over changes to salary caps in League One.
For teams that have been relegated from the Championship, this percentage rises to 65% in their first season, down from 75%.
The PFA is the union for current and former footballers in the Premier League, the FA Women’s Super League and the English Football Leagues.
A plan to introduce salary caps in Leagues One and Two in 2021 was withdrawn following a decision from an independent arbitration panel.
The panel upheld a claim by the PFA that the caps were “unlawful and unenforceable”.
