Fresh blazes were reported in Blaenavon yesterday evening, with crews remaining at the scene into Wednesday as South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) responded to incidents across the region. Fires were also reported in Wattsville, Sirhowy Valley and Rhiwderin, all of which prompted warnings to the public. Thick smoke has filled the sky across parts of Gwent as a wave of wildfires puts continued pressure on emergency services. The fires follow a similar incident earlier this summer near Blaenavon on Mynydd Garnclochdy, between Abersychan and Blaenavon in Torfaen.
