The Sioux Falls Police Department posted a helpful guide outlining the requirements for all E‑Devices under South Dakota Codified Law. Electric Assisted Bicycle:A pedal-powered bicycle with an electric motor that provides assistance only while you pedal. Motorized Foot Scooter:A stand-up or sit-down scooter primarily designed to be propelled by an electric motor. Cannot have more than two wheels, wheels cannot be larger than 12 inches, and cannot go faster than 15 mph on a flat surface. Before allowing your child to ride an electric device, take a moment to learn what type of device it is and what South Dakota law requires.
