The eclipse was particularly attractive because parts of Spain would see totality shortly before sunset, creating an unusual combination of celestial and natural spectacle. Iceland also drew large crowds, with the country’s western coast falling along the path of totality. The event was especially significant there because total solar eclipses are exceptionally rare.
