HQThe UK is about to experience its fifth heatwave in a row this summer, with little to no rain or respite in between.
With yet another temperature spike on the horizon and expected to lead to amber health alert conditions in much of the country, and specifically the Midlands and the south-east, it has been revealed a Cobra meeting has been called to discuss the extreme heat the UK has faced this summer so far, as per BBC News.
The meeting is happening today, August 12, and will see new Prime Minister Andy Burnham chairing and leading the meeting.
The meeting will feature the attendance of ministers from the Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs, plus others from the Home Office, Department for Health, and the Environment Agency.
While we'll have to stay tuned to hear about the meeting's notes, the upcoming heatwave is forecast to peak at 38.5℃, which would make for the hottest August day on record since 2003, further extending a record-setting summer.
