Organised by Somerset Wildlife Trust and the Somerset Environmental Records Centre (SERC), the fifth annual count took place from Thursday, June 18, to Saturday, June 27. It has generated almost 3,400 species records since it began in 2022, including nearly 500 new records this year. Becky Fisher, head of engagement at Somerset Wildlife Trust, said: "A huge thank you to everyone who got involved in this year’s Big Count. Ellen Phillpot, SERC data specialist, said: "We are grateful for the continued engagement and support of this event, completing its fifth year running." "Thanks to the addition of the paper form, 91 additional observations were recorded."
