Another viewer noticed Wood was no longer in station promos, which is never a good sign for talent hoping to stick around. Although Wood is not the first woman in the KDKA sports department, she’s the first in quite a while. But since then, no one I talked to could remember another woman working in sports until Wood. My understanding is the station uses Wood much less often than when she started at KDKA in 2024. Wood was hired by the station’s former news director, Shawn Hoder, and worked 40 hours a week freelance with an eye on a full-time contract.
