That said, we must all look forward and work together to propose solutions as it really is in everyone’s interests.
I truly believe an overall improvement plan will greatly assist in delivering economic growth not only for our county, but the United Kingdom as a whole.
Whilst many factors influence economic prosperity, there can be no doubt that excellent transport links are fundamental and must be provided.
One matter I raised at the A14 summit was the refusal of the current government to improve the railway junctions at Ely and Haugh despite the plans exceeding the Treasury’s return on investment criteria.
My understanding is that those rail improvements could reduce commercial traffic on the A14 by more than five percent - a small but significant result.
