On September 9 and 10, Jack Jewers will appear at Wave of Nostalgia and Pickering Book Tree, respectively, discussing his new novel Seething Lane. The book reimagines Pepys, a notable 17th-century diarist, as a sleuth investigating a murder, and was released on September 3 to mark the 360th anniversary of The Great Fire of London, an event Pepys documented. Seething Lane, which unfolds around London's oldest theatre in Drury Lane, draws inspiration from Jewers’ childhood spent backstage with his mother, a prominent Shakespearean and TV actress. Jewers' debut novel, The Lost Diary of Samuel Pepys, received accolades, including Sunday Times and Financial Times Book of the Year. The event at Wave of Nostalgia starts at 7pm on September 9, with tickets priced at £5, while the Pickering Book Tree event begins at 7.30pm on September 10, with free admission.
