Southampton-based charity Heartbeat has renewed its support for the “Explain My Procedure” animated video library, which helps patients and their families understand cardiac treatments before arriving at hospital. Although not a substitute for individual medical advice, the animations are intended to support patients in making informed decisions and feeling more comfortable during conversations with their healthcare team. The impact of the video library is already being felt. Mark Cooper, a patient who watched the video before receiving a coronary stent, said: "I found the short video very informative and reassuring. Heartbeat first began funding the project in January 2021, supporting the creation of 21 animated procedure videos over five years.
