Professor Robert Fear, from the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Southampton, said finding the right location will be key. He said: "In order to get the best view of the eclipse you need to be somewhere that can see the late night sun in the west. Mayflower Park could provide another option, with its position beside the water giving visitors an open waterfront outlook towards the west. However, anyone planning to watch the eclipse is being urged to take care when viewing the sun. People should therefore plan their viewing location in advance, making sure they have a clear western horizon while avoiding direct views of the sun without proper eclipse protection.
