Hana Tanaka of Pullman’s Comets Track Club cleared a height of 5 feet, 4 1/4 inches to place second in the 15-to-16-year-old girls high jump at the USATF National Junior Olympics held July 27 to Aug. 2 in Norwalk, Calif.Tanaka, who herself stands 5-2, holds a lifetime personal best high jump mark of 5-5. The incoming Pullman High junior was runner-up in the event at the Washington Class 2A high school championships this past spring, and won a Nike Nationals high jump title in Eugene, Ore., in June.
