UPDATE, AUG 12:Firefighters and residents of south Lebanon say the Israeli military is lighting wildfires to burn down forested areas. On Tuesday, the Israeli military dropped flares in a wooded area outside Khiam, sparking blazes. Firefighters, requesting intervention to a “deconfliction” group which includes the Israeli military, were given permission to fight the fires at only two spots. The Israeli military has claimed that Hezbollah uses the forested areas as cover for fighters and tunnels.
