Plans to restore listed city centre building with YMCA and Masonic past
['Darren Shield']

Plans have been submitted to Cumberland Council to convert the Grade II-listed 22 Fisher Street, in Carlisle city centre, back into a single dwelling.
By 1899 it was being used as a Masonic Hall, before later becoming part of the YMCA complex.
It states: "The property is a fine example of a well-proportioned Georgian house, which has suffered from inappropriate internal partitions and later extensions."
Later additions linking it with the neighbouring former YMCA sports hall at No.24 would be removed.
These include a 1960s toilet block, internal partitions and staircase, along with a flat roof which currently covers the former rear courtyard.
